Senior Scientist, Drug Discovery for Age-Associated Disease

The Gestwicki Laboratory and the Small Molecule Discovery Center (SMDC)
    Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry
    University of California, San Francisco

The Gestwicki laboratory at UCSF is seeking a highly collaborative drug discovery professional to help lead an exciting project at the interface of aging, longevity and chemical biology. Funded by a 5+ year award, the goals of the project are to profile age-related changes in protein homeostasis (proteostasis) and explore small molecule-based strategies for restoring healthy aging. The successful individual will independently develop the project to achieve key milestones, while working with an exciting, interdisciplinary team of scientists that are located at top academic centers.

The SMDC is a research “Collaboratory” that works with academic and industry researchers to develop chemical probes and drug leads. The successful applicant will work with this team to design and execute biophysical and biochemical assays. Scientists who enjoy working on diverse problems and thrive in a team-oriented, multi-disciplinary environment are ideally suited for this position.

The position will report to Dr. Jason Gestwicki, Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry is one of the three departments in the School of Pharmacy, one of the top ranked schools of Pharmacy in the US.
